Dove Cresswell has established a reputation as an animal trainer for film, television and
commercials. Over the years she has trained a wide array of animals including many different breeds
of dogs.
Dove Discovers Dog Training
Dove Cresswell started training dogs as a profession when she was only twenty years old. As
a teenager she took her Labrador to a professional dog trainer to receive dog obedience training. The
experience awakened her interest in training animals. She absolutely loved the experience of working with
dogs and other animals. She spent countless hours training her Labrador tricks. She volunteered at a
local SPCA and accumulated a weird menagerie of animals. At 17 she got a job at an animal
hospital.

When Dove Cresswell graduated from high school she went to college and studied
Biology. Her time at the university presented opportunities to study under many top dog and animal
trainers. This has allowed her an understanding that there is no one way to train an animal. Training a

Dove Cresswell Develops a Dog Training Program
Dove believes that long training sessions are not the way to train. It is hard on the dog
and the dog’s owner. Training for the dog should be fun. A dog’s focus or concentration wanes down
after 10 or 15 minutes. The dog owner gets tired too. A dog’s training session should only be about 15
minutes. This way it remains fun for everyone, the dog and the dog’s owner.
Doing 10 minute training sessions, two or three times a day, is a lot easier and the dog is
better equipped to focus on the tasks at hand. Dog training should be fun for everyone involved, the owner

only punished by the devices without any instructions, and most of all, without any positive reinforcement of
correct actions.
